    • Michael ?Chase? Mercer

Michael "Chase" Mercer, 20-year-old beloved son of Aprill and Mike Mercer, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016, from injuries sustained in a tragic accident.

He was a lifelong resident of Lynn Haven, attending Lynn Haven Elementary, Mowat Middle School and graduating from Mosley High School in 2013. He was finishing his AA degree at Gulf Coast State College making excellent grades in all subjects.

Chase was a very caring, loving, affectionate, intelligent young man who had many friends. He was mannerly and respectful, especially to elderly people. He never failed to let it be known how much he loved and appreciated his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, water sports and all of God's creatures, anything from his three-legged dog named "Nelson" to random snakes picked up in the woods. Chase accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 15 and was baptized at St. Andrew Baptist Church.

The final chapter of Chase's life is defined by saving the lives of others. Through Chase and his parents' generosity, many people will receive the gift of life from his organ donation. He was able to positively impact the lives of so many others who now have the opportunity to continue their own lives and leave their own positive mark in the world.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Aprill and Mike Mercer; younger brother, Griffin; older sister, Brooke Head and her children Easton and Makenna Head. His grandparents, Pril "Nana" Vickery and husband, Bob Vickery, Mack Bland and his special friend Mayra Hoven. His Aunt Sarah, and Uncle Jason Steverson and their children Abby, Mallory, and Jake. Aunts Gradi Morgan and Susan Patri, Uncles David Mercer, Jay Mercer, Robin Mercer, and Wes Mercer along with 27 loving cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents, J.G. and Pat Mercer; and great-grandparents, Alvin and Myrtle Fouraker.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Lynn Haven United Methodist Church with Reverend Terry Tatum officiating. Pallbearers will be Shane Davison, Dalton Arkell, Dallas Arkell, Dylan Barfield, Forrest James, Celly Perry, Greg Mercer, Chris Mercer, Gage Morgan, Griffin Mercer, Hunter Dennison, Logan Strausbaugh, and Chandler Skelton.

In lieu of flowers, there has been a benefit/scholarship fund set up at Panhandle Educators Credit Union in the name of Chase Mercer.
