  • Notes 
    • John Madison King worked as an overseer on other plantations before establishing his own, Longwood Plantation, of Camden County, Georgia. He was elected in 1844 to serve as the first State senator from the 4th Senatorial District of Georgia. Camden and Wayne Counties formed the 4th District. He served again in the 1861-1862 term.
