    • HOUGHLAND, Marilyn GuytonAge 66. Left this world on March 14, 2011 for her eternal home where there is no more pain or suffering.

      Marilyn was a lover of life and was devoted to the Lord and her family. Never meeting a stranger, Marilyn was a friend to all who knew her, and she loved giving to others. Born and raised in York, Alabama to Mayme Jordan and James Guyton, she attended Livingston College and the University of Mississippi. A successful businesswoman, Marilyn owned three insurance companies before retiring.

      In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Walter Guyton, Lanell Guyton, LaVon Simpkins, Lucile Woodruff and Bill Guyton.

      Marilyn is survived by her husband of nearly twenty four years, Mason Houghland II; daughters, Teran (Robby) Moon, Paige Bounds and Leslie Shay; son, David Norrell. She is also survived by Mason's children, Mason (Charwan) Houghland III and Calvin Houghland; grandchildren, Lily and Jordan Moon, Brandon and Shay Munroe, Gunnar and Mason Houghland IV; brother, Robert Guyton, MD; sister, Carolyn Kearns.

      To celebrate Marilyn's life, Rev. Whit Chapman will conduct a service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 in Stanford Chapel of First Presbyterian Church located at 4815 Franklin Road in Nashville with visitation from 11 a.m. until time of the service in the Cheek House.

      Memorial contributions may be made to Cardiovascular Research at Vanderbilt Heart, VUMC, PMB 407727, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN 37240.
