      April 4, 1922 - June 5, 2017

      Mr. George J. Simpkins, Sr. age 95 of Repton passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017. He was a native of Vredenburg and lived a number of years in Camden before moving to Repton. Mr. Simpkins was in the Army and WWII Veteran. He was a member of Camden Baptist Church where he served as deacon, taught Sunday School and worked in the prison ministry for 40 years.

      He is survived by his wife Carol Ryals of Repton, AL; two sons Jimmy (Nancy) Simpkins of Thomasville, AL and Ronny Simpkins of Camden, AL; one daughter Sharon (Jerry) Gaddy of Linden, AL; one brother Marcus Simpkins of Camden, AL; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

      Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 10AM to 11AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11AM at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Conn officiating. Interment will be at 2PM at Camden Baptist Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Camden Baptist Church or Repton Baptist Church.
