Notes |
Died:
- George A Covel, one of the pioneer settlers of Blue Earth County, died last Thursday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Goodrich of Medo. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr Covel was born in 1852 near Beaver Dam, Wisconsin coming to Minnesota and locating in Goodhue County. He made the trip with his people, coming in a covered wagon when he was but nine years old. In 1862 the family moved to a farm in McPherson township which was Mr Covel's home until 1918. On August 31, 1878, he was united in marriage with Alla U Reynolds of Alden, Minnesota. In 1918, the Covel family moved to Eagle Lake, living there for thirteen years, then to Mankato. Mrs. Covel passed away in July 1931 and since that time he has made his home with his daughter. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. George Goodrich of Medo, Mrs. Edna Hoagland, Mrs. Rudy Kotz and Mrs. Eunice Bennett of Mankato and two sons, Harvey Covel of Staples and Orin Covel of International Falls. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Goodrich home in Medo and internment was made in the Medo Central Cemetery.
