- Graveside services for Levie Katherine Flanders Underwood 94 of Griffin formerly of Cadwell will be held at Dublin Memorial Gardens Sunday afternoon July 5, 2009 at 3:00P.M. Dr. Rick Mitchell will be the officiating minister.
Katherine was born June 15, 1915 in Rockledge to the late Levy Jordan and Katherine Amada Smith Flanders. In 1943 Miss Flanders married Oscar W. Underwood. They were married for 29 faithful years. The Underwood's lived in Cadwell from 1980 to 2007. In 2007 Mrs. Underwood moved to Griffin to be closer to her children. Mrs. Underwood was retired with the U.S. Postal Service of 30 years where she served as Post Master in Cadwell. Mrs. Underwood was a member of the Young At Heart Club in Dexter and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dublin.
Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her husband Oscar W. Underwood, her brother, Robert E. Flanders; her sister, Sarah Frances Flanders. Mrs. Underwood passed away at her home in Griffin July 2, 2009.
Mrs. Underwood is survived by one son, Glen Underwood of Griffin; two daughters, Ann Gary and husband Walter and Sara Russell and husband Lee both of Griffin; four grandchildren, Travis Russell (Stevy), Jennifer Russell, Forbes and Will Gary all of Griffin; one sister-n-law Ruth Flanders of Griffin, numerous nieces, nephews and cousin.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home Sunday afternoon July 5, 2009 from 1:30P.M. to 2:30P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
